How it works
The directory fills itself as people join. Nobody has to maintain a spreadsheet.
Step 1
Invite your congregation
By email in bulk, up to 250 at a time, or by sharing your church's join code.
Step 2
Everyone fills in their own
Name, photo, and whichever contact details they want other members to have. Their half is theirs.
Step 3
The church sets roles and titles
Admins assign access and the titles the church confers. That half is the church's.
Step 4
It is there on both
The same directory on the web and in the Psalmly app, including a screen showing each person exactly how they appear.
What you actually get
A directory people keep up to date themselves, because they are the only ones who can.
- Two halves, two owners
- Name, photo, contact details and a short bio belong to the member. Role and title belong to the church. Each side edits its own half, so nobody finds their details changed by someone in the office.
- Contact details shared on purpose
- A phone number appears only when its owner shares it. The directory even distinguishes a number that is private from no number at all, so nobody is left guessing whether to ask.
- Listed by default, private by choice
- Members appear in the directory as they join, and any of them can take themselves out of it without losing anything else in the app.
- Titles the church confers
- Deacon, treasurer, youth leader — the title is the church's to give, and it sits alongside the access role rather than being the same thing.
- Staff on your public website, with consent
- An admin can feature someone as staff on the church's website, and that person still decides whether they appear there. Two separate choices, because they are two different audiences.
- People who will never sign in
- Keep them on the roster anyway. A church's list of people should not be limited to the ones who downloaded an app.
- One person, several churches
- Somebody who belongs to two churches has a listing in each, with its own sharing settings. What they share in one has nothing to do with the other.

Who can see our directory?
Only people who belong to your church. It is not on your public website and it is not open to search engines — the website is the front door, and the directory is not behind it.
What if someone does not want their number in it?
Then it is not in it. A phone number or an email address is shared only when that person chooses to share it, and they can change their mind at any time without asking anyone.
Can somebody stay out of the directory altogether?
Yes. A member can keep themselves off the list entirely and still use everything else in the app. Nobody has to trade their privacy for a prayer board.
Who decides someone's role or title?
The church does, and only the church. Roles and titles — deacon, treasurer, youth leader — are set by your admins. A member's own name, photo, contact details and bio belong to them. Neither side can quietly edit the other's half.
Can we show our staff on our public website?
Yes — an admin can feature someone as staff on the church's website. That person still controls whether they appear there, separately from being listed inside the app.
How do we get everyone in?
Invite them by email — up to 250 addresses at a time — or share your church's join code and let people add themselves. You can also keep people on the roster who will never sign in at all.
What about someone who belongs to two churches?
They get a separate listing in each, with separate settings. Sharing a phone number with the church they grew up in does not share it with the one they visit in the summer.
