Updating your church information

Your church's details can be changed any time from Your website in the admin sidebar. The core facts — its name, logo, address, contact details and service times — sit together under Church details, below your pages. Keeping them current is how members and visitors see the right information.

Church details

Open Your website and look for Church details. Each row shows what's in it now, so you can check a detail without opening it:

• Name & details — Church name, Web address, Denomination, and Founded (the year you began, shown as "Established" on your website). Read changing your web address before you change that one.
• Logo & color — your Logo (a square image works best) and your Color: one of five, or a custom color of your own. Buttons, links and highlights on your website and in your app use it.
• Address & time zone — Street address, City, State, ZIP and Time zone. The time zone is required: which events count as upcoming, and when the giving month turns over, both follow it.
• Phone, email & links — Email (required), Phone, Website, Instagram, Facebook and a Livestream link — a link that is always your live stream, like your Facebook or YouTube "live" page, so you set it once. If you've entered your Facebook page, Use my Facebook page's live link fills it in for you. These are shown publicly on your website. Replies to your church emails (announcements and the weekly bulletin) go to this Email. Add an extension in the Ext. box if your office number has one; your website shows it written out, and tapping it dials it.
• Service times — your regular gatherings. Each has a Day, one or more Times (Add a time for a second start time), and an optional Label, Location and Description. If a gathering isn't at your church, choose Not at the church? and give its street address, so "Get directions" sends people to the right place. These are recurring gatherings, not one-time events.

Click a row to open it, and ‹ Your website to come back.

These details aren't only for your website, and each of these screens says so: Also used around your app, so a change here shows up there too. Your church's name and logo are how members see it in the app, for example, and your service times appear on members' calendars.

Your color on your website

Every look keeps your color easy to read, adjusting it where text or a button needs it. The Homeward, Narthex, Timberline and Mesa looks also soften a very bright color a little so it sits well on their pages — a bright red comes out a slightly deeper red — Narthex and Timberline tint their pages with a little of your color, and Mesa draws two partner colors from it, a warm one and a cool one, so your website has three. Your color itself doesn't change, so switching to another look shows it as that look draws it.

Saving

Name & details, Logo & color, Address & time zone and Phone, email & links wait for you to save. When you change something, a bar at the bottom says so — for example Unsaved changes on Logo & color — with Discard and Save. If you try to leave before saving, Psalmly asks what you'd like to do.

Service times works differently: each service saves on its own, so there's no Save bar there. Click Add a service time (or Edit on one you have), fill it in, and click Save service — or Cancel to leave it as it was. Remove takes a service off right away.

The preview beside the list shows your changes before you save — except a new web address, a new time zone, and a service you're still editing, which appear once they're saved.

What still needs filling in

A row with nothing in it says Not filled in. For the fuller picture, use Show all on the line at the top of Your website — it lists every part of your site and what's in it. None of it is required: you can publish before everything is filled in.

Changing your web address

Your web address is where your website lives — for example yourchurch.psalmly.app. You can change it under Web address in Name & details, and Psalmly tells you as you type whether the new one is free. A few addresses are kept for Psalmly itself, like help and support, so those can't be chosen.

Because there's no automatic forwarding yet, changing your web address breaks any existing links to the old one — anything you've shared or printed will stop working. So when you save, Psalmly first asks Change your web address?: choose Change address to go ahead, or Keep current. After the change, Psalmly moves you to your new address.

Publishing

Saving a detail never publishes your website by surprise — Publish and Unpublish are separate buttons at the top of Your website. See Your website for how publishing and the preview work.
