Adding a graphic to an event, announcement, or campaign

When the thing you want a graphic for is already in Psalmly, you don't have to start from nothing. There are two doors, and they do different jobs.

From an image field — a graphic that goes on the page

While you're filling in an event, an announcement, or a campaign, look just under the Image field. Once you've typed a title you'll see a link: Choose or make a graphic.

It opens one window with two tabs:

• My graphics — pick one your church has already made. Free, and instant.
• Make a new one — design a fresh one. 25 credits, about twenty seconds.

It opens on My graphics if your church has any, and on Make a new one if it doesn't — a shelf of nothing teaches nothing. Switch tabs whenever you like.

Choosing one you already have

This is the quicker answer, and often the right one: the poster you made for March's workday is still there, and using it again costs nothing.

Click any graphic to use it. It drops straight into the Image field, and it publishes with the event, announcement, or drive when you save.

Until your church has made its first one there's nothing to choose from, so the window skips this tab and opens straight on Make a new one.

Making a new one

1. What's it for? comes pre-filled from what you've typed into the form so far — including changes you haven't saved yet. Edit it if you like.
2. Need to change the look? reveals the look picker and the mood chips, if you want them. Otherwise Auto handles it. See Choosing a look.
3. Generate — the button says the cost, 25 credits.
4. When it comes back, ask for a change if you want one (Redraw), then press Use this one.

Shapes, and what "will crop" means

The picker leads with the graphics that are the right shape for the slot you're filling, and puts the rest one click away: Show N in other shapes.

That's worth understanding rather than working around. An image field crops whatever you give it to fit its own frame — so a tall poster dropped into a wide banner gets cut down, often straight through its own lettering. On a graphic the words are the point, so a crop can ruin one in a way it would never ruin a photograph.

Off-shape graphics are labeled "will crop" on the card so you're choosing it rather than discovering it. Sometimes that's fine — the middle of the picture may be all you need. Sometimes it isn't. The badge just makes sure it's your call.

From a detail page — a graphic to share

Open an event, an announcement, or a campaign and you'll see a Make a graphic button at the top of the page — beside Edit on an event. It takes you to the composer with that item already attached and the brief already written — the date, the time, the place, the headline, straight off the record.

From there it's the normal flow: pick a shape, generate, ask for changes, and download it. See Making a graphic.

This door gives you a graphic to share — for Instagram, a bulletin, a foyer noticeboard, a screen slide. It can also put the graphic on the item itself: once you've generated one you'll see a button naming it — Use on Harvest Supper — beside Download. Press it and the graphic becomes that event's, announcement's or drive's image. If the item already has an image, Psalmly asks before replacing it — the old one stays in your church's media, nothing on the page points at it any more.

The button appears only when the composer has one item attached. A graphic built from several isn't about any one of them, so there'd be nothing to guess.

A few small things:

• Announcements offer it on a draft too, so you can have the picture ready before the note goes out.
• Campaigns offer it on a finished drive as well — the "we did it, thank you" graphic is worth making.
• A cancelled event doesn't offer it.

Either way, it's yours afterward

Anything you make lands in your Graphics library, whichever door you came through — so you can download it again later, or reuse it on something else. See Your graphics library.

And because the page keeps its own copy of the image, deleting the graphic from your library later leaves the event, announcement, or campaign exactly as it was.

Plans and credits

Choosing from your library is never gated. A church whose plan has lapsed keeps its whole library and can still put those graphics on new events, announcements, and drives — the work is yours.

Making a new one is part of the Community and Growth plans and uses your church's shared AI credits. A church with no plan and nothing in its library sees what Graphics does and an upgrade offer, rather than a form that would refuse it. See Managing your plan and billing.
