Managing giving funds
How to create and manage the funds members give toward — the always-on Tithes & offerings fund, adding designated funds with icons, colors, and goals, hiding a fund without deleting it, and archiving the ones you no longer need.
A fund is something members can give toward — your general tithes and offerings, a missions fund, a building campaign, a benevolence fund, anything your church collects for. Funds keep giving organized and let members choose where their gift goes. You'll manage them on the Giving page, under Giving funds.
The default fund
Every church starts with one fund already in place: Tithes & offerings. It's your general fund, it's always on, and it's the natural home for everyday giving. Because it's the safety net that guarantees members always have somewhere to give, it's protected — you can't hide, delete, or rename it away. You can always add as many other funds alongside it as you like.
Creating a fund
Click New fund to open the fund editor. Each fund has:
- A name — what members will see, like "Building Fund" or "Missions."
- A short description (optional) — a sentence explaining what it supports.
- An icon and color — a quick visual identity so funds are easy to tell apart at a glance.
- A goal (optional) — a target amount, if you're working toward something specific. When you set one, members see a progress bar on a fund as gifts come in, which can be a wonderful encouragement during a campaign.
Save it, and the fund appears immediately for members to give toward.
Editing and hiding funds
Open any fund with the pencil icon to change its name, description, look, or goal at any time.
Each fund (except the default) also has a visibility toggle:
- Visible funds appear in the give flow for members to choose.
- Hidden funds stay in your records but don't show to members — useful for a seasonal fund you want to pause without losing its history, or one you're preparing ahead of time.
Hiding is not deleting. A hidden fund keeps everything it has collected; you can show it again whenever you're ready.
Archiving a fund
When a fund has truly run its course — a finished campaign, say — you can archive it from the fund editor. Archiving removes it from your active list and from the give flow, but it never erases the giving that happened. If you archive one by mistake, an Undo option appears right away so you can bring it back instantly.
The default Tithes & offerings fund can't be archived — it's always there.
A note on goals and totals
Goals are about encouragement and direction, not accounting — set one so your congregation can see what you're building toward together. To review the actual money received and break it down gift by gift, use the Recent gifts table and the giving stats on your Giving page. See Tracking gifts, refunds, and reports.
