Your church directory

How to browse your church's directory to get to know people and reach leadership, and how to control how you appear — whether you're listed and whether you share your phone or email. Web and mobile.

The directory is how you get to know your congregation — see who's part of the church, find its leadership, and reach the people who've chosen to share their contact details. Open it from Directory in your church's menu on the web, or from your church's home screen in the mobile app.

Browsing the directory

People are grouped into Leadership (your pastors, admins, and anyone with a title) and the rest of the congregation, and you can search by name. Each person shows their name and their title if they have one, plus a way to reach them only if they've chosen to share it. On the web that's an Email or Call button on their row, or "Not shared"; in the app it's a small phone or mail icon, and the Call and Email buttons are on their profile. Tap anyone to open their profile.

How you appear

You control how you show up, and it's per church — your choices here don't touch any other church you belong to. Tap How you appear and you'll find:

  • Listed in this directory — on by default. Turn it off to hide yourself: other members won't see or find you here. You can re-list anytime. (While you're hidden, the two sharing switches below are turned off — there's no one to share with.)
  • Share my phone — off by default. Turn it on to let members call you from the directory. (You'll need a phone saved in your account first.)
  • Share my email — off by default. Turn it on to let members email you. Your church's admins can always see your email — it's how invitations work — but other members only see it if you share it.

Your name, photo, and contact details themselves live in your account settings and are shared across all your churches — see Your account and profile.

Appearing on the church's public website

This screen is about how you look to fellow members. Your church's public website is a different thing, with its own control — Church websites in your account settings.

If a church puts you in the team section of its public site, you'll find it listed there, along with the name, title, photo and short bio the church wrote for you. You can take yourself off at any time, and the church can't put you back — only you can.

Turning it off removes you from their page. Search engines may hold a copy for a while afterwards, which is outside anyone's control.

Blocking someone

If you need to, you can block another member from their profile. You won't see each other's prayers, posts, or profiles — and because a block is between the two of you rather than about one church, it applies in every church you're both in, not just this one. You can unblock anytime from your account settings. For blocking and reporting together, see Blocking and reporting.

People who don't use the app

You'll only ever see fellow members in the directory. Some churches also keep an internal roster of people who don't use the app (for their own records and giving) — those never appear here, and only admins can see them.
