Running your church from the app
How church leaders run their church from the Psalmly app on a phone — the Manage and Member view switch, what's on each tab, the notifications for leaders, and what stays on a computer.
The Psalmly app on iPhone and Android is one app with two sides. If you're an admin of a church, you can run it from your phone: let people in, send announcements, add events, see the giving and more. Your congregation is right there with you, in the same app.
Update the app first
The leader's side needs the newest version of the Psalmly app. If you already have it, update it from the App Store or Google Play. If you don't, download Psalmly from either store and sign in with the same email you use on the web. Your churches are already there.
Manage and Member view
Open one of your churches. Under the church's name you'll see two choices:
- Manage — the leader's side, where you run the church.
- Member view — the church the way your congregation sees it: prayer, events, groups, giving and the bulletin.
Tap either one to switch. Nothing changes for anyone else; it only changes what you're looking at. The first time you open a church on a phone it opens on Manage; after that, the app remembers the side you last used there. You only see the switch in churches where you're an admin. In a church where you're a member, the app opens straight to the member side.
The Manage tabs
- Home — what needs you today: people asking to join, messages from your website, reported posts and giving that needs attention, with the next steps for a new church.
- People — your Directory. Approve or decline people who are waiting, invite people, show your QR code, and open anyone's details. See Approving new members and Sharing your join code.
- Events — add or change an event, see who's coming and read the sign-ups. See Scheduling events.
- Announcements — write one, add a photo or a graphic, choose who gets it and send it. See Sending announcements.
- More — everything else, in groups:
- Your church: Giving, Your website, Service times, Join code & approval.
- Community: Groups, Prayer board, Moderation.
- Messages: Inbox, Bulletins, Graphics.
- Write-ups: Scribe.
- Money: Finances.
- Settings: your plan, and church settings.
Scribe, Graphics, Ask Psalmly and recording offerings and expenses are on Psalmly's paid plans (Community and Growth). On the Free plan, the app tells you so and shows which plan you're on; plans are changed on a computer at psalmly.app, never in the app.
Notifications for leaders
The app can tell you the moment something needs you. Open Profile → Notifications and look under As a church leader:
- Join requests — someone asks to join a church you manage, or one of its groups.
- Messages from your website — a visitor writes through your contact form.
- Reported content — a member reports a post, prayer or profile.
- Giving — online giving needs you, or goes live. Only people who can see the church's giving get this one.
- A write-up is ready — Scribe finishes a recording you made.
Each person's switches are their own. Turning one off on your phone doesn't change anyone else's, and the bell and email on the web keep working either way.
What stays on a computer
Some desk work is done on the web, at psalmly.app:
- Editing your website's pages, its look, photos and team, and connecting a custom domain. The app shows your website, publishes it and sets your service times.
- Your plan, billing and AI credits.
- Building a bulletin or a form. The app publishes and emails a bulletin you've built.
- A group's schedule, and changing one date of a repeating event.
- Giving by person, statements, exports, funds and campaigns, opening balances, the board report, and editing or deleting an expense.
- Uploading an audio file to Scribe, and editing a write-up field by field.
- Importing a spreadsheet of people, the knowledge base, and handing off or closing a church.
When the app reaches one of these, it says so and points you to psalmly.app.
