Your church's AI assistant

Ask Psalmly is your church's own AI assistant. It answers questions from the information you already keep in Psalmly, and it can help you get things done — drafting an announcement, setting up an event, inviting people — always stopping for your say-so before anything happens. It's part of the Community and Growth plans, alongside Scribe (recordings into write-ups) and Graphics (designed posters, slides, and posts) — the three share one monthly credit allowance, described at the bottom of this page. On the free plan, your church's admins can try the assistant first with 50 free messages.

Open it from Ask Psalmly in the admin sidebar, or the sparkle button that floats on your screen. Ask in plain language: "What's coming up this week?", "Draft a Saturday-workday announcement," "Invite these three people."

What it knows

The assistant answers from your church's own information, not the open internet:

• Your church's details from Your website — its name, tagline, story, contact details, address and service times — and your published events.
• Your Knowledge base — the durable things you've taught it (your story, beliefs, FAQs, policies). See Teaching your assistant (Knowledge base).
• Psalmly's own help articles, so it can explain how to do things in the app.
• Where your online giving setup stands — whether your church can receive online gifts yet, and what Stripe is still waiting on — for admins who can open the Giving page. Ask "What's left to set up giving?" and it lists what's outstanding and offers to take you there.

It doesn't read your giving records (who gave what), your member directory, or event sign-up lists — those live on the Giving, Directory, and Events screens.

It stays current with your real calendar — it knows about events you've moved, renamed, or cancelled. When it uses a source, it cites it, so you can check. Like any AI it can occasionally get something wrong, so confirm anything important against the real screen.

What it can do for you

The assistant can take a first pass at real work, but it only ever proposes — it shows you a card and you confirm before anything is created or sent. Nothing happens automatically, and every action runs as you, under your own permissions. It can offer to:

• Draft an announcement — as a draft to polish, or ready to send.
• Create an event from your description.
• Invite people by email.
• Change a single date of a repeating event — move it, change its time or room, or cancel just that week. One request can do several at once ("move it to Thursday and hold it in the fellowship hall"). A cancelled date shows only that it's cancelled, so to tell people why, send an announcement.
• Take you to the right page — ask where something is and it offers a button that jumps you straight there. For your website, that's the exact part you asked about, like Photos or Service times, not just the top of Your website.

If you'd rather do any of these by hand, the normal screens are always there — the assistant is a shortcut, never the only way.

Plans, limits, and privacy

• The assistant is part of the Community and Growth plans. On the free plan, your church's admins get 50 free messages to try it — once per church, shared between them, and they don't reset. They also come once per person: if you, or whoever created your church, already used them with another church, they don't come again. The count shows under the message box and on the Ask Psalmly box on your admin dashboard. Once they're used, you'll see an upgrade prompt instead of a chat. See Managing your plan and billing. If you pressed one of the suggestions under Ask Psalmly, like Invite new members or Schedule an event, the prompt also has a link to do that yourself: inviting people, scheduling events and writing announcements never need a paid plan.
• Paid plans include a monthly pool of AI credits — 3,500 a month on Community, 15,000 on Growth. There's one allowance for everything, not a separate bucket per feature: the same pool covers questions to the assistant, Scribe write-ups, Graphics, and the AI drafting buttons around the app. What each costs differs — a question is 1 credit, a graphic is 25, and a Scribe write-up depends on how long the recording is. The bigger ones tell you the price before you commit. Included credits refresh at the start of each month. If you're running low, Psalmly shows a gentle heads-up, and you can buy a top-up pack from Subscription and billing — bought credits stay until you use them and never expire. Doing things by hand never uses credits.
• Members' questions come out of the monthly credits only — never out of top-up credits you buy, which stay for your admins — and each member can ask up to 50 questions a day. Admins aren't held by either.
• The assistant is only for signed-in members and admins of your church — it isn't open to the public, and it never answers as your church to strangers.
