Teaching your assistant (Knowledge base)

How to teach the Psalmly AI assistant the durable things it can't read from your calendar or profile — your story, beliefs, FAQs, ministries, and policies — by writing knowledge base entries, plus what not to put in and the per-plan limits.

Your assistant already knows the live facts — your service times, events, and giving funds come straight from the app. The Knowledge base is where you teach it everything else: the durable things that make your church yours and that it can't read from a calendar. Open Knowledge base in the admin sidebar. It's part of the Community and Growth plans.

What to add

Write short, plain entries for the questions people actually ask and the things that rarely change:

  • Your story — how the church began, who you are.
  • What you believe — a statement of faith or beliefs in a few lines.
  • First-visit FAQs — parking, what to wear, kids, how long the service runs.
  • Ministries and groups — what you offer and who they're for.
  • Policies and traditions — anything you'd find yourself explaining again and again.

Each entry is just a title and a short body (with an optional topic tag). Starter templates give you a head start, and if your church has AI you can use Write with AI to draft an entry from a sentence or two.

How it helps

The moment you save an entry, it becomes part of what Ask Psalmly draws on — for both your members and your admins — usually within seconds, and the assistant can cite it in its answers. It closes the gap between what the app knows structurally and what only you know about your church.

What not to put in

Everything you save becomes answerable to every signed-in member and admin of your church. So keep the knowledge base for things you'd happily tell the whole congregation. Don't paste private or sensitive information — giving records, member rosters, personal contact details, counseling notes. Those belong in the parts of Psalmly built to protect them, not in the assistant's general knowledge.

Limits by plan

  • Free — the knowledge base (and the assistant) aren't included; you'll see an upgrade prompt. See Managing your plan and billing.
  • Community — up to 25 entries.
  • Growth — up to 100 entries.

A meter on the page shows how many you've used, and Psalmly gently flags entries that haven't been reviewed in a while, so your assistant's knowledge stays fresh and true.
